Town Council Priorities
1. Expand Economic Growth
Economic growth is critical to having sustainable finances while delivering the services our town needs to thrive. To drive this, the Council will seek to:
- Modernize zoning and bylaws to streamline business interactions with town government while protecting the interests of residents.
- Prioritize infrastructure investments that improve quality of life, enhance town services, and attract both residents and businesses.
- Develop a refined, data-driven economic development plan aligned to North Attleboro’s strategic strengths and market opportunities.
2: Charter Changes
Drawing on experience from three full terms under the current charter and the first five-year review, the Council is committed to ensuring the charter continues to reflect the community’s needs and supports effective governance. To achieve this, the Council will seek to:
- Strengthen accountability and oversight by clarifying roles and responsibilities across Council, administration, and boards.
- Improve governance structures to enhance effectiveness of boards and committees, align budget processes, and support fair and consistent elections.
- Ensure clarity and accessibility by simplifying charter language, correcting inconsistencies, and making the document easier to use and understand.
3: Good Governance:
Building on the good work that has been done to date, the Council seeks to:
- Ensure delivery of key public services is effective, efficient, and sustainable.
- Support the growth, development, and retention of town employees through training and engagement.
- Foster collaboration within the Council and across boards and committees to strengthen decision-making.
- Evaluate the structure of government to ensure it supports long-term strategic growth
4: Communications:
Improving communication, transparency, and information accessibility / availability with residents, and between boards and committees, continues to be a priority for the Town Council. We will seek to:
- Enhance transparency and accessibility of town information for residents.
- Streamline communications between the Council and other boards and committees to improve coordination and deliver more optimal outcomes.
- Expand opportunities for resident feedback and engagement to strengthen community participation in local government.
