North Attleboro has been awarded a $100K mitigation grant by the Mass. Gaming Commission. The purpose of the grant is to mitigate the effects upon North Attleboro of having a casino in a neighboring community. Because of Plainridge Park Casino, the traffic on Kelley Boulevard (Route 152) has increased, and the grant award will be used to fund a traffic study to determine what can be done to ease the traffic buildups on this road. We will be issuing a request for proposal (RFP) for a traffic consultant to conduct the study shortly.
North Attleboro has also received a $133K grant to install Electric Vehicle charging stations in three locations in town. The grant funding, offered by the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources, will be used to install EV charging stations in the town hall parking lot, the Church Street public parking lot, and the North Attleboro High School parking lot. The charging stations will be installed by mid-January.
