SCAM ALERT: Fake Email Claiming to Be from North Attleborough Planning Board

Home Posted on May 15, 2025

The Town of North Attleborough would like to alert the community to a scam email that’s been circulating, claiming to come from the North Attleborough Planning Board.

The email appears official, featuring a town address and formal language. It addresses specific individuals and states that their “Residential Structure application” has been approved. However, the email requests that the recipient pay an attached invoice via wire transfer to finalize the approval.

Please be aware that this email is not a legitimate request. The Town of North Attleborough does not request wire payments via email and will never demand immediate payment as a condition for application approval without prior in-person communication, public hearings, or official documentation.

If you receive a message like this, do not respond, do not send any money, or open any attachments. This phishing attempt is designed to trick you into wiring money to scammers. Instead, please contact the town’s Planning Department at 508-699-0100 Ext. 2546.

If you’ve received this message or something similar, please report it to the Town of North Attleborough and the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
